Baby who was born with “hind” legs, underwent surgery that changed her life
The baby was born with “hind” legs – a one in a million. Victoria Komada from Norbich was born with bilateral hemimelia of the tibia – a congenital defect, which has not had an tibia in her right leg and with a short limb.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Komada, expected the baby shortly after they moved to the UK from their native Poland. Mrs. Komada said: “The nurse came to me and said: I will bring you your daughter in a minute, because she has problems with her legs.”
I asked, “What are the problems?” – And she replied, “Nothing wrong, don’t worry.” Martium and Dariusz Komada turned to eight specialists, and they all offered to amputate both legs. »She needs her own legs, not amputated and prosthetics. And I said, “No, I do not agree to amputate, no, no,”
In the end, they came across a surgeon-orthopedist Dr. Droir Payla, who specializes in the extension and reconstruction of the extremities. The couple had to create a fund collection page to raise more than £ 300,000 for surgery. Thanks to the operation that changed her life, Victoria took her first steps in just a year.
Unfortunately, I had to amputate the right leg. The reason is that on the right side, where the tibia is completely absent, there are mainly no muscles of the quadriceps. “After surgery, we have come really difficult time for us. She cried with pain. She couldn’t sleep at night. But a week later, she began to feel better. ” Victoria’s foot healed in two months.
Now she wears a prosthesis on the right side. ” I have been waiting for this moment so long. She is happy now. ” She is a normal child, she is smart, she is always happy. I just want her to have a normal life, and I know that she will have a normal life because she is a strong girl, “said Mrs. Komada.
